Nina Hartmann’s “Living with Swedish Antiques” serves as a showcase for her timeless sense of design. Pages flow with classic Swedish antiques accented with folk art finds as well as personal collections and decorative pieces gathered over the years. Nina’s husband, Tore Sundgren, has captured the essence of her work and passion for design in page after page of photographs that walk us quietly through thirteen tranquil and inspiring homes.
Nina uses her own and her friend’s homes as a backdrop for extensive collections of Swedish antiques. Playing off the textures and muted pallets of color, Nina incorporates whimsical folk art and collections of creamware and framed artwork. The original architecture and character of the homes provides the perfect setting and canvas for Nina’s design.
Full page photographs walk us into the rooms, giving us a sense of scale and design. Favorite rooms, outdoor rooms and even Christmas rooms are all part of these virtual house tours. Her minimalistic simple accents serve to highlight the often-overlooked qualities of texture, patina and design so characteristic in the collections.
Nina’s simple approach to design, her affinity for Swedish antiques and the intrinsic beauty in classic form are all in the forefront in this, her latest publication.
